It appears that we have to be critical with the content that we are watching on TikTok.

A viral TikTok video by TikToker Rachel Morgan is telling people to stop using tampons because the menstrual products can cause cancer due to its dangerous content, titanium oxide, as per Tech Times.

However, according to health experts, Morgan's claim is a fallacy and people should not worry about using tampons. Your tampons are safe, experts said.

The controversial video has already received nearly eight million views and 1.5 million likes as of writing. In the video, Morgan is holding a box of 100% organic cotton core tampons which comes from the brand L., owned by Proctor & Gamble, as per Gizmodo.

Morgan is telling users to stop what they are doing and to check the contents of the product at the back of the box.

According to Morgan, she found out about the said "dangers" of tampons after watching a TikTok video of a girl using the same brand. 

Morgan said that in the said video, the girl experienced two weeks of excessive bleeding and extreme pain, ovarian cysts, and irreversible uterine damage.

As of writing, Morgan's TikTok video has garnered more than 30,000 comments. It also received numerous video responses from other users and creators, who are swearing off L. tampons and any other tampons containing titanium dioxide. 

Unfortunately, there are tampon brands that have ridden in the popularity of the viral TikTok and took advantage of the chance to advertise that their products do not have titanium dioxide.

Doctors and health experts on TikTok and other social media claimed that tampon users should not panic. According to experts, no scientific evidence is found saying that titanium dioxide in tampons can cause any harm among users. 

According to Gizmodo, experts said that there is no evidence that titanium dioxide in tampons as well as in other topical products, and food is unsafe to humans.

An OB/GYN, Dr. Jennifer Gunter, who is also a frequent debunker of fake advice online, came out this week to try to calm down the panicking people and reassure them that their tampons were not "toxic death sticks."

According to Gunter, titanium dioxide won't get inside the blood in the vagina through its nanoparticles because it cannot dissolve in water, as per Tech Times.

Thus, a tampon string soaked in blood should not cause an alarm among women because it does not lead to titanium dioxide leak.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ryan Marino of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine medical toxicologist, said that titanium dioxide can be dangerous and "carcinogenic" only when inhaled. 

According to Gizmodo, they tried to reach out to TikTok to ask if it would take any action regarding the controversial video but they did not receive a response. 

Likewise, the news website also sought comments from Proctor & Gamble, but the company did not issue a statement.
