Recently, another keyboard appeared at the workshop, aimed strictly at computer players who appreciate backlight and performance. The Genesis Rhod 420 RGB can be placed somewhere between the 400 and 600 models, adding a bit more modern style and a slightly lower profile.Right out of the box, I had the unpleasant feeling that I had seen this model somewhere. As it turned out, the Rhod 420 is identical to the construction from the Fury stable - the ThunderJet set which some time ago became a hotspot on my blog. The Genesis brand has already accustomed us to a small number of additional accessories in their sets, also in this case, apart from the title keyboard, we can only count on the user manual.Fortunately, this one is written in several languages, including Polish - explaining the basics of backlight management and multimedia functions. The vast majority of the device is made of plastic, although its main base is made of aluminum. It has 104 buttons, 12 of which are responsible for multimedia. The keys have a medium-high pitch, so they will be useful not only for playing, but also for basic work at the computer. The keyboard rests on two plastic legs that can be lifted and folded at two levels. The key combinations described in the manual allow us to change the WASD keys to arrows and vice versa, and the 12 function keys in combination with the Fn key correspond to launching dedicated shortcuts / applications / activities. It is similar with the optional backlight, which in this case plays the main role of this model. The user has at his disposal classic membrane switches with the anti-ghosting function of up to 19 keys. This model also has a 6-zone RGB backlight in which we can independently configure one of the 7 colors (red, green, blue, yellow, blue, purple, white) or use the default color animations. In each of the modes, we can define the brightness of the backlight, adjusting it to our own preferences. For the undecided, you can always turn off the backlight. At the beginning I have to mention that the first impressions were not very nice, because the design of the device was too similar to the budget model from Fury.It was only after a week of testing that it showed that although a similar construction was used, its elements seem to be a bit more durable. This can be felt especially in the case of forced work on the keyboard (typing) and the gameplay focused on a quick change of keys (eg "killing").In my case, this keyboard was mainly useful for writing down impressions from using the tested devices and for entertainment, mainly in terms of gaming. She successfully passed the tests during the Anthem open beta, and even with classic shooters like CS: GO and Battlefield, she did well.I am aware that there will also be people who will not like this keyboard at all, but in my opinion, in the current price range (not exceeding PLN 100), it fits as it was.We should also mention the useful Windows key lock, which often saves my life during demanding skirmishes in the field of e-sports.And although in the case of my current keyboard it passes the test in this field (Thor 300), in the case of the Rhod 420 the finish of the keys could be a bit better. The Genesis Rhod 420 RGB keyboard fits perfectly into the low shelf of devices aimed at players. The advantage is the good fit of plastic and metal elements, but the use of cold aluminum may have a negative effect in terms of long-term use.It is true that such aluminum will be useful during the production of a larpy ax, but it makes an uncomfortable feeling during longer playing.Keyboards covered with insulating material are the best in this matter, but it is probably a matter of an individual approach.Genesis Zircon 330 - a wireless mouse for casual gamers and moreGenesis Krypton 300 - cheap mouse for players for special tasks
